Shoreline Village is a fun place to visit with kids. Kids can ride the carousel, play some arcade games, get an icecream, and watch the boats docked in the harbor. There are some sunny outdoor restaurants, and the scene is colorful and lively, if a little tacky and touristy. Take a walk from here to adjacent Rainbow Harbor- it's a gorgeous walk under the palm trees with the water alongside.
From Long Beach you can catch a ferry to Avalon, Catalina Island, a beautiful harbor with super clear tropical-looking water.

Shoreline Village is located at 401 Shoreline Village Dr, Long Beach CA 90802.
From Highway 405, take Highway 710 south to Long Beach. Take the Shoreline Drive exit toward Convention Center/Downtown. This is a left-hand-side exit. Stay on Shoreline Dr and follow the directions to the aquarium but instead of turning right on Aquarium Way, go on a bit and turn right on Shoreline Village Dr. There is plenty of parking that is $1 for the first two hours if you get it validated.
