Brickell Ave, Downtown Miami

Brickell Ave in Downtown Miami is where many international consulates and banks are clustered. In fact, it has more international banks than any other city in America. Brickell Key, a gated island (!), lies just across a short causeway, and creates pretty views for many of the high-rise offices. It's wonderful to walk along Brickell Ave and look up at the unique shapes of the glistening glass skyscrapers. The entry pillars in front of the Viceroy Hotel are a sight to see, and the grand silver columns in front of 701 Brickell Ave are nice too. There are plenty of cafes to choose from, where you can watch the smartly-dressed business people walking by. Mary Brickell Village provides a upscale spot where people can gather at sidewalk cafes and hang out in the open spaces of the plaza. The Miami River meets the bay at Brickell Ave near 5th Street. You can stroll along the waterfront of Biscayne Bay in tiny Brickell Park, which connects Brickell Ave with the bay. Skyscrapers and palm trees really do look good together!
At night, enjoy a drink at one of the roof-top poolside bars, such as the bar on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel (warning: crowded, difficult valet parking pullup. Cost is $20 once validated).
Nearby check out Bayside Marketplace, a touristy spot with restaurants and shops on the waterfront. Or go for a dip at 7th Street Beach!
