Flamingo Gardens, Davie

Flamingo Gardens is a lush, tropical botanical garden with huge, magnificent trees and beautiful plants. Peacocks, ibis, and iguanas roam the grounds, including an all white peacock. There are many rescued animals to see, including a tortoise, bald eagle, flamingos, ibis, adorable otters, alligators and bears. Kids can hand feed the flamingos, fish, and ibis.
It's fun to watch one of the Meet the Animals talks. There is also a tram tour that introduces you to the history of the gardens and lets you see some exotic plants you might not otherwise notice while riding through a tropical paradise. Kids love to ring the giant bell by the tram. There is also a house tour that is interesting.
Get there right when it opens so you have the place to yourself! There is plenty of shade in the gardens which is appreciated on hot days.
Another wonderful and colorful place for kids nearby is Young At Art Children's Museum. After your visit, have a delicious meal at Bahama Breeze, an 11 minute drive away.
