Kawaikui Beach Park

Kawaikui Beach Park is a small square of grass along the main road, and looks pretty unimpressive from the road. But around the corner is a bench with glorious views of Koko Head and Koko Crater. On a pretty day it can really be inspiring to sit here in the breeze and take in the wonderful feeling of Hawaii. There are usually some people having a picnic under the large trees, and if so, then you feel safe here. Surfers also use this park to access the water. There is a tiny sandy beach but the bay here is not swimmable (I'm not sure why, but I just know it isn't- I think the water is not very clean because of all the storm drains and the marina nearby) and the sand is a bit grungy. So while this park isn't really a destination to go out of your way to get to, it is pleasant to stop here and check out the great view for half an hour.
Just down from Kawaikui Beach Park is Kuliouou Beach Park and Paiko Lagoon, a similar spot with great views of Koko Head, a slightly grungy beach, some suspect people hanging at the restroom pavilion, and some residents taking Fido for a stroll.
