Entering Waikaloa Village Resort can be quite awe-inspiring, as one takes in the waterfall, falling amongst a rock wall below the grand amphitheatre. You can walk under the waterfall through a walkway under the rocks.
There is a monorail to take you around the resort and there is some interesting artwork, such as a replica of a huge ancient brass sculpture of a chariot from Thailand.
The dolphins in the lagoon are super cute to look at and it's amazing to be able to see them for free while walking around the resort grounds.

Overall Visitor Rating:
|My kids are 8 and 10. We loved it. The lagoon had such easy snorkeling that my 8 year old was able to learn in no time. Turtles, fish of all kinds, rays all abound there. Lots of water slides too in the pools but we mostly hung out at the lagoon. A-bay is a ten minute walk off the property. Lots of coral there and good snorkeling as well|
|read a bit of the book Exploring Lost Hawaii before you go. Knowing the fascinating history enriches ones experience immeasureably. You can read it to your kids if you edit out the scary parts. Try the first chapter on Kamehameha's strange childhood. his main temple is near the hotel, you could go at sunset - its... huge. The Chiefs, when not warring, vacationed on these shores:)|
