Waialae Beach Park is nice in its own right, though for me it's often just a way to get to Kahala Resort and Beach. The park has a cool concrete bridge over a stream. Toddlers like to walk over the bridge to the expansive lawn on the other side. From there you can go for a long pleasant walk to the west along Kahala Beach, the beach that fronts the Kahala mansions.

If you head east along Waialae Beach you will find a corally beach that is good for shell hunts. The little island of Kahala Resort makes for an idyllic scene. Once you arrive at Kahala Resort you can enjoy the lush landscaping and little ponds filled with tropical fish, sting rays, and turtles. Best of all, in the pretty lagoon there are dolphins! Your kids will love watching the free dolphin show. And afterward they can play in the coarse sand or swim at the beach.
If you're hungry, head to Kahala Mall. For the best food nearby, eat at Olive Tree Cafe on the corner of Kilauea Ave and Pahoa Ave. Their reasonably-priced Greek food is delicious.
