Outlets at San Clemente
Outlets at San Clemente is a pleasant outdoor mall with white Spanish-style buildings. It has curved towers, arches, Canary palms surrounded by purple bougainvillea, tables with umbrellas, shaded benches, and potted plants. Kids enjoy the mini train rides that run through the mall. There is a frozen yogurt place, a toy store, and also an IMAX movie theater. The best store is Sun Diego, a large surf shop from San Diego. We didn't have much luck with Ruby's Diner but there are other cafes to try.
Seven minutes drive south, check out the aquamarine water at T-Street Beach and Pier.
A nice beach further south, with golden cliffs in a canyon, is Calafia State Beach.
Another place to check out is the Dana Point Lantern District, with cafes and shops, a few blocks from clifftop views of the harbor. It is an eleven minute drive north.
A nice hike to do early in the morning or at sunset is Sea Summit Trail, with winding staircases through the fragrant sagebrush and stunning views of the coastline.
