Lake Hiawatha Preserve is a huge, gorgeous park. It is 220 acres with large bright green grassy areas used by disc golf players. There are paved and unpaved shady paths that wind around under plenty of trees. A tall playground has a working water tower and a curved wooden climby. So much fun! A good idea are the two dog parks, one for big dogs (over 25 pounds) and another for small dogs. Wow they thought of everything here! Across the roundabout is a fishing pier on Lake Minneola. Since most of the park is not directly on the lake, it's a little hotter than lakefront parks. But it's beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to check out.
This park is along the route of the drive on Lakeshore Drive. It is also on the S. Lake Trail bike path. It is a three minute drive or six minute bike ride to West Beach Park, which has a small cute playground on Lake Minneola. From there you can continue on to 8th Street Pier in downtown Clermont (a one minute bike ride), a gorgeous spot on the lake. There are cute coffee shops, ice cream shops, and cafes nearby.
