Description
Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach is a pretty place with gorgeous tropical trees and a grassy lawn. The assortment of plants is vast. Paved walkways take you through the garden, so you can bring a stroller. There is a herb garden with the most lovely scents! And some of the flowering trees smell amazing. There is a bridge over a tropical stream, and at the end of the garden there's a large pond with a lookout.
Kids delight at the pretty flowers and are excited by the spiders. The first time I visited it was a weekday and huge spiders hung above us on webs, dozens of them! This was unnerving and in the end, I left because no one was around and I didn't know if the spiders are poisonous. The weekend is much better, when there are other visitors and it doesn't feel so isolated. The drive to the gardens takes you through an industrial area by the airport so you don't feel inspired until you walk through the gates of the garden.
The airport is right across the street from the garden, which makes for some noise. It's fun for kids, though, as they can watch the planes go by.

The roads are really weird around here, some resembling freeway entrances, so bring your GPS to help you out.
