Description
Fletcher Cove is a pretty spot, especially at sunset. The golden light casts shadows on the lawn over the sea. There is a small playground with a tunnel slide and swings, and basketball courts.
You can sit at picnic tables and take in the views of the coast, in the cold ocean wind. Surfers enjoy the waves, while families tackle on the lawn. Tall palms and steep cliffs frame the scene. The beach park is nicely landscaped, with boulders and a small amphitheater.
There is a vegetarian cafe across the street called Naked Cafe that serves breakfast and lunch.
You can also walk six minutes to the Solana Beach Design District, a main street with shops, pottery studios, and restaurants such as Wild Note Cafe or Peet's Coffee. Coast Highway 101 also has restaurants such as Java Depot and Beach Grass Cafe.
Another great beach nearby (13 minutes north) is Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas.
