Whale Beach is a gorgeous beach on the ocean side of the Barrenjoey peninsula. Surfers love this beach for its reliable break. There is an ocean swimming pool on the southern end. Lush Norfolk pines frame the beach where the golden-pink sand begins. The rich and famous live in mansions on the narrow, winding streets that curve up above the beach. Because Whale Beach is accessible only by winding roads, it has a private, secluded feel.
For an inspiring view over Pittwater, drive to nearby McKay Reserve Lookout, just minutes from Whale Beach.
If you're hungry after your play in the sun, head over to Avalon Parade Shops for a tasty sausage roll at Batch Patisserie! I'd do it right now if I could!!
Whale Beach is on the ocean side of the Barrenjoey peninsula, south of Palm Beach. From Barrenjoey Rd, turn toward the ocean on Whale Beach Rd. Turn right on The Strand, which leads down to the beach.
You can't get a bus directly here. You must take the L90 bus from the city to Avalon and then transfer to bus 193 to Whale Beach.
